Detailed Itinerary
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our professional driver-guide. Begin your journey with a fascinating guided tour of Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital. Highlights include a poignant visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will gain deep insight into the events of 1994 and Rwanda’s remarkable path to reconciliation.
Continue to explore the city’s bustling local markets, artisan shops, and cultural landmarks, immersing yourself in the everyday life of Kigali. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a selected local restaurant before setting off for Volcanoes National Park.
Your scenic drive through Rwanda’s picturesque countryside offers breathtaking views of rolling hills, lush farmland, and charming rural villages – a journey that truly lives up to Rwanda’s title as “The Land of a Thousand Hills.”
Arrive at your lodge near Volcanoes National Park in the evening, where you will check in, enjoy dinner, and rest ahead of the next day’s adventures.

Rise early for a hearty breakfast before heading to the Kinigi Park Headquarters by 7:00 AM. Here, you will join fellow adventurers for a short briefing with the park ranger, who will share fascinating insights about golden monkeys and the unique ecosystem they inhabit.
At 8:00 AM, transfer to the nearby trailhead and begin your trek through the lush bamboo forests at the base of the volcanoes. The hike is relatively gentle, allowing you to fully appreciate the spectacular mountain scenery surrounding you. Soon, you’ll encounter a lively troop of golden monkeys – playful, curious, and completely enchanting.
Spend an unforgettable hour observing these endangered primates as they leap gracefully from tree to tree, delicately pluck young bamboo shoots, and occasionally venture into the nearby potato fields for a cheeky snack. This rare wildlife encounter offers countless photo opportunities and a deep appreciation for Rwanda’s rich biodiversity.
Return to the trailhead and transfer back to your lodge for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a scenic cross-border journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. After clearing immigration formalities, continue to your lodge where you will check in, enjoy dinner, and relax ahead of tomorrow’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Wake up early and enjoy a nourishing breakfast before heading to the Bwindi National Park Headquarters for a detailed pre-trek briefing. Here, expert rangers will guide you through the rules and etiquette of gorilla trekking to ensure a safe and respectful encounter with these gentle giants.
With your guide leading the way, set off on your once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trek through the dense and magical Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The trek can last anywhere from 2 to 5 hours (or sometimes longer), depending on the location of your assigned gorilla family. The journey itself is an adventure, taking you through rugged terrain, lush vegetation, and breathtaking scenery.
When you finally encounter the mountain gorillas, you will spend a precious hour in their presence, quietly observing as they feed, groom, and interact in their natural habitat. This rare and moving experience is often described as one of the most profound wildlife encounters on Earth.
After your trek, return to the lodge for a well-deserved rest and a leisurely afternoon to relax, enjoy the serene forest views, or reflect on the extraordinary experience of the day.

After an early breakfast, bid farewell to Bwindi and begin your scenic drive back to Rwanda. Upon crossing the border, continue to Kigali, where you may enjoy a short city tour (time permitting). Explore Kigali’s key landmarks, visit vibrant craft markets for last-minute souvenir shopping, and soak in the city’s warm, welcoming atmosphere one last time. Later, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight home, carrying with you unforgettable memories of Rwanda and Uganda’s remarkable wildlife and landscapes.
