3 Day Gorilla trekking In Uganda

Enjoy the beautiful green hills of Rwanda, called the "Land of a Thousand Hills," and Uganda, known as the "Pearl of Africa," as you travel from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The road takes you through lush rainforests, past rolling hills and volcanoes, and through quiet villages before you reach your lodge in Bwindi.

Our guide will pick you up from Kigali International Airport or anywhere in Kigali for this trip. While gorilla trekking is the main reason to visit Bwindi, there are many other activities to enjoy. You can take a village walk, meet the Batwa Pygmies and learn about their culture, go bird watching, or take a nature walk.

Don’t miss the stunning sunsets—relax on the lodge veranda with a drink as the sun goes down. When you arrive, check in at Orugano Lodge, rest for a while, and in the afternoon enjoy the Kahurire Trail trek. This short hike gives you beautiful views of the forest and the surrounding hills.

After a good breakfast, you’ll take a short drive to the Bwindi Forest headquarters. Here, you’ll meet the park rangers, guides, and trackers who will take you on your gorilla trek. Before you start, you’ll get a short briefing about gorilla trekking rules and be assigned to a gorilla family.

Your trek begins from where your gorilla family was last seen. The hike can take between 1 and 6 hours, and you may climb as high as 7,500 feet (2,300 meters). The trails can be muddy and slippery, but your guides, trackers, and porters will go at a pace that is comfortable for everyone, with plenty of stops to rest, enjoy the views, and take photos.

The trek can be tiring, but the beauty of the forest makes it worthwhile. When you finally see the gorillas, you’ll forget how tired you are. You may watch them eating, playing, or grooming each other — it’s an unforgettable moment.

After your gorilla visit, you’ll return to the lodge for a shower, fresh clothes, and some time to relax. If you still have energy, you can take a walk through the Nkurungo Community to meet locals and enjoy more beautiful views.

Wake up to your last sunrise in this beautiful part of Uganda and enjoy a tasty breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, our driver or guide will take you back across the border to Rwanda and drop you off at Kigali International Airport at least 3 hours before your flight.

Please make sure your flight is after 4:00 pm. If your flight is earlier, you will need to spend an extra night in Kigali. We can help you arrange accommodation for an additional cost.
